New year, new begining

Image
When we got home at Santa Catalina Ilocos Sur, nothing really special happened except staying at home and doing chores. We went to practice our HIPHOP. Then here comes New years Eve, we started to buy groceries with my parents and made specialties to be eaten on the New year’s eve. We made a prosperity bowl and cooked many pastries and shared our time bonding together. It was very noisy outside and New year was near.   We started taking family pictures and waited till time hits 12:00am. After that we ate and did many traditions during new year such as picking up coins on the floor, fireworks, and made lots of noises with the cars and more. This new year, I want to save my allowance and spend it on important things or occasions and this year I want to experience new things, travel to new places and be a better version of myself. :>

A Christmas To Remember!!

Image
During the holidays, me and my family prepared to go on a trip to our family in my father side at Isabela. On December 22, 2024 we went at 5am and got there at 7:30pm. The trip was very tiring but we still enjoyed the trip because we had fun talking with each other and had several stop overs. Then, we went to visit our cousin at Quirino Province and decided to spend Christmas there.        We cooked, made grayhams, macaroni, cooked spaghetti and shrimps with chicken as well. We also stayed up late watching movies, playing games and waited for the clock to hit 12:00am to celebrate Christmas eve. We ate the food we prepare and greeted each other and expressed how we love one another. We also shared gifts and our blessings.        Those moments with my family will surely be unforgettable. After Christmas, we went to SM Cauayan and walked with each other looking for places to shop and eat as well. After that we went hom...

The culture and rights of Indigenous individuals

Image
The Philippines is celebrating Indigenous Peoples Month this October. It is a time wherein we celebrate our culture, heritage, and the contributions of the Indigenous communities to our country. This year’s theme is "Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana" . This reminds us about the importance of respecting and protecting the rights and traditions of Indigenous individuals.      A law that can help in protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples is the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act. This law acknowledges the rights of indigenous peoples to their traditional lands, self-rule, and cultural traditions. This is an innovative law because it guarantees Indigenous communities can live with respect and dignity. It also makes sure that each and every ones voices are heard in the decisions that may affect their lives. As we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Month, it's a time to reflect on the progress made in protecting I...

Elpidio Quirino is the sixth president of the Philippines. He played a key role in helping our country recovery after World War II. He was born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan city, Ilocos Sur. Elpidio Quirino worked hard to become a lawyer and began his career in politics. His dedication and skills helped him rise and he eventually became Vice President under President Manuel Roxas. When President Roxas passed away in 1948, Quirino became president during a difficult time. The Philippines was left in a bad situation during the war and most of our country was affected. Resilience of Filipinos and climate change

Image
The Philippines is one of the countries that is most affected by climate change. Because of global warming, which is caused by pollution and cutting down trees, our country experiences stronger typhoons, several floods, and longer droughts. This has a big impact on our lives and especially those who sustain their needs by farming and fishing. One of the worst examples of how climate change affected our country was Typhoon Yolanda last 2013. It was one of the strongest storms recorded, and it caused massive destructions.  Many individuals lost their loved ones and a lot even lost their lives.  But typhoons like typhoon Yolanda aren’t the only problem. Even smaller storms or unpredictable weather changes can damage crops and homes of individuals. Filipinos are known for their resilience, meaning their ability to rise up again and continue to live after difficult times. Even after a disaster, communities come together to rebuild and help each other. Local governments, schools, an...
