    The Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262) is considered as one of the important laws of our country which helps to protect women and children from different types of danger or harm including mental, emotional and physical abuse done by anyone. This law gives women and children the right and legal protection from their abusers. This law is able to help them in getting guidance and help when they are hurt. 

    The 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women happens each year on the 25th of November until the 12th of December. This campaign is a time when our country works as one to raise awareness about violence against women and children. Each individual wants to make sure that everyone knows the negative effects and the impact of violence. Also, there are several laws made in order to help protect victims. RA 9262 is one of the main and important laws that is helpful in helping victims get justice and safety.    

      The Anti-Rape Law of 1997 or RA 8353 is a law which says that forcing someone to have a sexual activity without their consent is a crime. This law made it easier for survivors and victims of rape to seek for justice. The Anti-Rape law is important because it shows that this type of action is a very serious crime and no one should ever hurt someone in this way. During the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, this law is one of the main reminders to people that sexual violence is never acceptable and that victims have the rights to be heard and protected.   

  The Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 (RA 7877) aims to avoid and stop sexual harassment in public places such as in schools and in workplaces. Sexual harassment happens when someone makes inappropriate comments, gestures, or tries to make someone do something sexual that they don’t want to do. This law makes it illegal for anyone to harass others. This law also helps people report and punish these actions whenever it occurs. The importance of this law is because it helps people feel safe at work, school and many other places wherein these actions may occur. The 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women uses this law to remind people that no one should feel uncomfortable or scared because of the behavior of other people around them.     

These laws, RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act), RA 8353 (Anti-Rape Law), and RA 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act) helps in protecting women and children from violence. The 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women is a time when we all learn about these laws and why it’s important to stand up against violence. It aims to make sure everyone knows that violence is wrong and that there are laws to protect people and keep them safe from harm.
