Resilience of Filipinos and climate change

The Philippines is one of the countries that is most affected by climate change. Because of global warming, which is caused by pollution and cutting down trees, our country experiences stronger typhoons, several floods, and longer droughts. This has a big impact on our lives and especially those who sustain their needs by farming and fishing.

One of the worst examples of how climate change affected our country was Typhoon Yolanda last 2013. It was one of the strongest storms recorded, and it caused massive destructions.  Many individuals lost their loved ones and a lot even lost their lives.  But typhoons like typhoon Yolanda aren’t the only problem. Even smaller storms or unpredictable weather changes can damage crops and homes of individuals.

Filipinos are known for their resilience, meaning their ability to rise up again and continue to live after difficult times. Even after a disaster, communities come together to rebuild and help each other. Local governments, schools, and organizations also help prepare for future disasters by teaching people how to stay safe and protect their homes. But while the strength and determination of Filipinos is inspiring, we still need to work harder to reduce pollution and fight climate change to avoid even more damage in the future.
