Chinese New Year, Celebration of welcoming a new beginning

     Us Filipinos participate in the yearly celebration of Chinese New Year because of the influences of Chinese cultures and history in the Philippines. A lot of Filipinos have Chinese roots, and celebrating Chinese New Year is a way to honor their heritage and cultural identity. Chinese New Year is an occasion for families and friends to come together and give thanks for the blessings they have received in the past year.

    In the Philippines, Chinese New Year celebrations involves traditional activities. some example of these activities are lighting firecrackers or maybe fireworks during or before Chinese new year. Another is eating different kinds of traditional foods like lumpia and giving out red envelopes containing money to children. The celebration is a way to welcome in hope and new beginnings in the new year.
